Turning digital transformation ideas into real learning experiences

When Bedford College approached Aura, the requirement was very different from a standard hardware refresh.

Its Digital Transformation team had ideas for using emerging technology in teaching and learning, but the starting point was what they wanted students to be able to do rather than a predefined list of products.
Aura spent time understanding those ideas before helping source the technology that could turn them into something practical.
That included VR headsets, Bambu Lab 3D printers and Lenovo 2-in-1 devices, bringing several different requirements together through one procurement relationship.
The technology is now being used in very different ways across the College.
Students can use VR to practise interviews, explore human anatomy and experience simulated workplace environments in a safe setting. The College’s 3D printers allow students to take their own product designs and turn them into physical prototypes, while teaching teams can also produce practical learning resources such as models of the digestive system.
For Aura, the project was less about supplying a particular manufacturer or device and more about understanding the reason the technology was being purchased in the first place.
That helped Bedford College move from ideas within its Digital Transformation team to technology being used in real teaching and learning environments.

“When we approached Aura Technologies, we were not looking for a standard device refresh. Our Digital Transformation department had several ideas for using emerging technology to improve learning, but we needed a partner that could understand those ideas and help us turn them into something practical.
Aura took the time to understand what we wanted to achieve across different areas of the college. They then sourced and supplied the right mix of technology, including VR headsets, Bambu Lab 3D printers, managing the procurement process and bringing everything together through one trusted partner.
The technology is already supporting some exciting projects. Students can use VR to practise interviews, explore human anatomy and experience simulated workplaces in a safe environment. Our 3D printers allow students to develop their own product designs into physical prototypes and help teaching teams create hands-on learning resources, including models of the digestive system.
What stood out was Aura’s willingness to engage with the purpose behind the purchase. They did not simply provide a price against a list of products. They understood what our Digital Transformation team was trying to accomplish, helped us find the right technology and made the process straightforward from the initial conversation through to delivery.
Aura has become a trusted partner in helping us bring new ideas into the classroom and turn our digital transformation plans into real learning experiences for students.”
