Giving IT more control without losing procurement oversight
For City Electrical Factors, routine technology purchasing previously involved the IT team raising requirements through procurement, requesting quotes by email and then manually tracking orders through the process.
Aura introduced the Procurement Portal to give authorised users within the IT team a more direct way to manage routine technology requirements.
Instead of every purchase having to move backwards and forwards between IT and procurement, approved users can now search for suitable technology, access agreed pricing, place orders and track progress through one central platform, while continuing to operate within the purchasing controls set by the organisation.
That change helps close the gap between the people who understand the technical requirement and the people responsible for purchasing it. IT can take a greater role in selecting the right technology, while procurement retains oversight through agreed products, permissions and purchasing rules.
For routine requirements, this means less time spent waiting for quotes and chasing updates. It also reduces unnecessary back-and-forth around specifications and helps the IT team progress requests and close related support tickets more quickly.
The portal has not replaced the relationship with Aura either. Where a requirement is more specialist or needs additional advice, the Aura account team remains available to support it directly.
